Be extremely careful when melting the wax in the microwave oven! Wax is relatively microwave transparent when it is solid, but very absorptive when it melts. So, it may not melt at first and then suddenly melt and become very hot very fast - in fact, it may become dangerously hot. So, be careful!

  18. Great article, and I would encourage everyone to at least try candle making. Your instructions are teriffic, really clear and I think Soy candles are the best, as they’re an organic vegetable wax unlike chemical paraffin candles.
    Great.

  19. Thanks for sharing this great and fun article my girls are going to love it. They love making cool things and I know they will enjoy doing them. Great post and keep up the good work.

  20. I prefer my candles with NO chemicals or paraffin. My soy candles burn very clean and are stongly scented.

  21. great blog thanks for sharing that with me i will be using that really soon.

  22. we’ve made our own candles a few times. They turned out OK but really didn’t last as long as we had originally expected. I think it was due to the fact that we used paraffin, instead of one of the alternatives you mentioned. Next time, we will definitely try soy wax!
